What happened?

On Friday, December 20, 2024, during the maneuvers prior to the shipment of hydrocarbon on the Polyaigos vessel, at the submarine terminal of the Talara Refinery, the presence of hydrocarbon was detected in the submarine line.

Faced with this situation, Petroperú activated its emergency plan and deployed a team of specialized divers to inspect the northern submarine line and determine the origin of the leak. On December 24, it was confirmed that this originated in a 6-millimeter (0.25 -inch) pore, coated with nitrile and metal reinforcement.
